FAQ
How do you play curling?
Two teams alternate sliding 42 lb granite stones down a 150 ft ice sheet toward a circular target called the house. After all the stones are thrown in an "end," whichever team has the stone closest to the center — the button — scores a point for every one of their stones nearer than the other team's best. Play 10 ends; highest score wins.
What's the "late hook"?
Real curling stones run almost straight while moving fast and curl the most as they slow down near the target. We built our physics around that same feel — spin barely decays, so the hook shows up late and dramatically, just like on real ice.
What platforms will it be on? Is there crossplay?
Dots and Rocks is being built for Steam on desktop and for iOS/Android, with crossplay between them — desktop and mobile players will be able to play in the same match.
Can I play solo, with a friend, or online?
All three. Play solo against AI (Easy/Medium/Hard), share a computer with a friend in local hotseat, or set up a private game with up to 4 players per team. Online multiplayer via room codes is in testing now.
What data does the leaderboard store?
Just what's needed to show the board: a display name and a games-played count per player, plus one global games-played total. Site analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) are cookieless and store no personal information.
